The battery capacity of the majority of electric vehicles in India typically falls within the range of 20 to 40 kWh. The cost of charging your electric car at home is dependent on the specific state’s electricity rate, which can vary from Rs 8 to Rs 10 per unit.

For example, the average Electric Car Charging Cost at charging stations in Delhi is approximately Rs 4 per kWh, while domestic rates can fluctuate between Rs 2 to Rs 9 per unit. This implies that charging your electric car at a public station might cost you between Rs 100 and Rs 200, while charging at home could range from Rs 180 to Rs 500.

Let’s take a scenario of Tata Nexon which has installed capacity of 40Kw battery capacity. The cost per km is Rs 0.80/km compared to Rs 5.6/km. The average cost for running 18,000km is Rs 14,400 for electric vehicles while its Rs 1,08,000 for Petrol vehicles.
